How does DSL work?

Can I talk on the phone or send a fax and be on the Internet with DSL at the same time?
Yes! DSL allows simultaneous use of a phone or fax machine and DSL service on the same line. There is no need for an additional line. DSL is like having two lines in one!

Do I need a new modem?
DSL does require a DSL modem or router as the connection is digital, not analog. Dotnet DSL includes a 4-port router at no cost, which enables you to share your DSL connection with up to four computers!

How do I know if DSL is available in my area?
DSL is a distance-sensitive technology, and not available everywhere. Check the list for areas where DSL may be available. If your area is listed, please contact us toll-free at 1-888-228-4665 x. 4 or e-mail us the necessary information. One of our technical support staff will be able to assist with pre-qualifying your location.

Are there time limits for how much I can use my DSL?
There are no time limits with Dotnet DSL. Use it as much as you like, but stay within the terms Dotnet's Acceptable Use Policy .

How does DSL compare to cable?
DSL is a dedicated circuit that prevents others from affecting your connection to any significant degree in most cases. Cable is a shared media and as additional users are added, your performance can be affected. DSL also offers higher uploading speeds than cable is able to achieve in most cases.
